J.A.C. Triathlon Set for June 1 Introduces Relay Option!
The Junior Advisory Council (J.A.C.) will host the third annual Coffeyville Youth Triathlon on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 8 a.m. at Pfister Park in Coffeyville, Kansas. Kids ages 7-18 will swim, bike and run in a competition held around the city pool. Youth have a new option of gathering friends for a relay team. Teams of three will compete in the same distances with one member swimming, one biking, and one running. Youth also have the option of doing both an individual and a leg of a relay team! Kids must provide their own bicycles and helmets. The junior division (ages 7-10) will swim 100 yards, bike 3.1 miles and run .64 of a mile. The senior division participants (ages 11-18) will swim 200 yards, bike 6.2 miles and run 1.2 miles. Relay teams will be divided by age with a junior relay of ages 7-10, and two senior relay races with ages 11-15 and 16-18. All participants will receive a t-shirt and all finishers will earn a medal. Prizes will be given for the top three finishers in each age division (there are five divisions) as well as the first and second top male and female finishers overall. Winning relay teams will also be awarded prizes! Participant registration forms are available now at www.coffeyvillefoundation.org or call 620-870-8778. The registration fee is $25 and may be paid at the racer meeting on May 31.
The objectives of the Youth Triathlon are to promote fun, fitness and safety, while raising awareness and funds to support youth programs in the community. Funds raised from the Triathlon will support youth activities in the Coffeyville area.
J.A.C. members are currently contacting potential Coffeyville Youth Triathlon Sponsors. Donors are welcome to sponsor at various levels from covering an athlete?s registration fee of $25 to higher sponsorship levels. Some sponsorship levels include name and logo on the Triathlon t-shirt as well as mentions on the website, social network and additional marketing materials. Contributions are deductible as charitable donations under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. Volunteers are also welcome to donate time to support the young athletes on June 1. With the support of the community, J.A.C. members hope to make a difference in the lives of children in Coffeyville and the surrounding area. Any and all contributions of time and money will be greatly appreciated and will help provide the awareness and funds to support area youth.
J.A.C. is a group of high school students who are interested in philanthropy and giving back to their community. J.A.C. is under the direction of the Coffeyville Area Community Foundation (CACF) and led by Jill Koslosky.
